Established in 2006, KIST Medical College Nepal has been at the forefront of medical education
Although the charter of KIST Medical College was granted by the Parliament of Nepal in 2006, it had a definite purpose: to provide world-class medical education via a government-affiliated non-governmental organization. Such a vision has just become more and more profound in the last 20 years. Ward No. 1, Lalitpur, the college, is located in Mahalaxmi Municipality, Ward No. 1, Lalitpur.
The difference between KIST and other schools is that it has a serious academic infrastructure and a true clinical immersion. The attached Teaching Hospital, with an over 550 bed count, and a variety of specialties, means that students do not have to wait until their final year to see real patients. Since the start of the semesters, the hospital is introduced into the classroom.
Even the campus is created to focus: lectures are held in air-conditioned lecture halls, science labs are purpose-built, the library is well-equipped with digital access, hostels are separated by gender, and the canteen is provided with a wide range of Indian, Nepali, and continental cuisines. The familiarity to the cultural environment takes away one of the biggest causes of anxiety in an already arduous journey in the case of Indian students.
First private university medical college in Kathmandu Valley which is affiliated with a government university (Tribhuvan University).
On campus, there is a 550+ bed multi-specialty Teaching Hospital for clinical immersion.

Comprehensive medical education programs designed to meet international standards
The curriculum shifts, in the first two years, between foundational sciences... and moves, in the later years, to increasingly clinical territory. The final year internship is done at KIST Teaching Hospital.
KIST dental programme operates on a modern dental clinic which has modern chairside and surgical instruments. The course balances classroom theory with carefully monitored clinical practice since the third year.
